The cornerstone of WildChild’s mission. Led by co-founder, Oliver Lansley, WriteWild develops, supports, and champions writers with new ideas and perspectives. We believe the surest and swiftest way to make a real difference is to target the top of the food chain. A greater diversity in our story-tellers, means a greater diversity of stories - this then trickles down to all those involved in telling those stories.

Since finishing WriteWild 2021, our writers have:
- Won TV commissions and paid script development work
- Been accepted on prestigious schemes (BAFTA, Oxford Playmakers, BFI Flare, CBBC mentorship)
- Been signed to top literary agents

- Presented their work to industry leaders at WriteWild’s showcase at Park Theatre, London
- Received their first TV writing credits

MEET THE WRITEWILD 2021 ALUMNI

Chantelle Dusette

“Not only did I receive support through mentorship by the Write Wild team and industry professional Ella Jones (director) to write my first pilot for an original TV series but I was also afforded the opportunity to pitch the series to the UKs best production companies and had a sharing of my pilot presented at a showcase at The Park Theatre, where the show has been picked up by Lucky 17 and Oli will continue working with me to develop this series as Executive Producer. Write Wild continue to support me with pitch ideas, and have introduced me to more companies and as result have received my first commission to write a treatment for Emanata Studios (Beano) for an original TV series, connected to their IP from the Beano back catalogue, taking my first proper step into a career as a TV writer, something I had always dreamed of but never thought possible due to my working class roots. A turning point not only professionally but personally. I am truly thankful and excited for the future.”

Chantelle Dusette is a writer, performer and activist working across sectors. Chantelle is an alumnus of The Criterion Theatre new writing programme and Associate Artist with Bruised Sky Productions. Chantelle explores what it means to be human through experiential and political plays which employ a playful and symbiotic relationship with form and medium.

Ciaran Fitzgerald

“WriteWild has done more for my career as a writer than anything else i’ve been involved in.”

Ciaran is a scriptwriter and workshop leader from Port Talbot. He is a graduate of the BA Scriptwriting degree at the University of South Wales in Cardiff. After starting out as part of Mess up the Mess youth theatre, developing devised and scripted pieces, Ciaran wrote his first play in 2013, and hasn’t looked back. He has been a part of the Young Artists Festival at the Other Room Theatre in Cardiff in 2017 & 2018, and is currently developing his first commissioned play ‘Chasing Rainbows’ with Pontardawe Arts Centre. Ciaran is really excited about being a part of this programme, and further developing his writing!

Florence Espeut-Nickless

Florence is a working class writer and theatre-maker from Chippenham – a town with no theatre and limited access to it. She’s a 2019/20 Open Session writer at Bristol Old Vic. She writes about rural working-class life in the Southwest, in the hope to make art accessible to all, regardless of background.

Hai Le

“One of the most amazing experiences of my life.”

My name is Hai Le, I’m British-Vietnamese and I live in South East London. I’m a Writer Performer and have only started writing since the pandemic began – March 2020 specifically. I am currently working on my first screenplay called Fundraised – A whodunit comedy-drama based in a charity fundraising call centre. Performance wise, I’m an Actor & Stunt Performer who has been working in the industry for the previous 5/6 years. I decided to start writing so that I can create my own worlds and characters so that audiences can hear voices and stories told from a British-Vietnamese perspective.

Julie Tsang

“Being on Wild Child is unlike any other writer scheme I’ve experienced. It’s fundamental to my practice as a writer. Their ethos is you are part of a family, a wider community continuing to support each other long after Wild Write. I know I will always have them at my side and I hope to do the same for new writers coming through this invaluable programme.”

Julie Tsang is a playwright from Glasgow. She was mentored with the Playwrights Studio Scotland and selected for the professional writer programme with Yellow Earth Theatre. Julie’s plays have won the Scotland Short Play Award with Cumbernauld Theatre and Listen Up! audio drama commission with Alphabetti Theatre. Her recent work has been long-listed for the Bruntwood Prize and The Women’s Prize for Playwriting.

Tabby Lamb

Tabby Lamb is a non-binary writer and performer based in East London and a graduate of the Theatre Directing course at Dartington College of Arts. Equally inspired by Carly Rae Jepson and Tennessee Williams, they strive to tell stories that explore the intersections between popular culture and politics. Their debut solo show SINCE U BEEN GONE, which Tabby wrote and performed, premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2019, after previewing at the Gate Theatre. The show was spectacularly received by audiences and garnered a glowing 4* write up from the Guardian who called the play “bold, honest and swollen with love”.

They were part of the Soho Theatre Writers Lab and the LGBTQ Arts Review #RaisingOurVoices scheme for queer and trans writers. They are currently under commission at The Unicorn Theatre, The Place and 45North. Alongside their passion for writing, Tabby is a facilitator and runs creative arts projects for young people from the LGBTQ+ community.
